Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan highlighted the Detroit Association of Black Organizations’ (DABO) efforts to provide free COVID-19 testing to stymie the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus that has adversely affected Detroiters.
Mayor Duggan lauded DABO’s testing efforts at his press briefing on Friday afternoon.
“Rev. Sheffield and DABO have started their own testing program that is phenomenally successful in what they’re doing,” Duggan said. “Tremendous leadership from Rev. Sheffield. We’re going to beat this virus with leadership like this.”
DABO, in conjunction with a community coalition, launched its testing program at the end of April. It has just added more testing dates and locations.
“I am pleased the Mayor is supporting the effort of our community coalition to get Detroiters tested and ultimately curtail the spread of the coronavirus,” said DABO Executive Director, Rev. Horace Sheffield, III. “That’s why DABO, Premiere Quality Health Center and Platform Healthcare Solutions have partnered to provide our friends and family access to COVID-19 testing.”
The coalition also announced it has added 3Fifteen Cannabis to its fold of organizations bringing testing to Detroiters.
“3Fifteen Cannabis is pleased to partner with Rev. Sheffield in providing critical access to testing services to underserved Detroit neighborhoods that would otherwise go under the radar,” said 3Fifteen’s General Counsel Tommy Nafso. “Part of our mission as a proud Detroit company is to support our community. We can’t think of a better way to show that support than helping keep our neighbors and communities safe.”
Premiere Quality Health Center will be administering the test on-site. While Platform Healthcare Solutions, a CLIA certified lab, will provide laboratory testing services.
Registration prior to the testing date is required. However, a prior visit to a healthcare provider isn’t necessary. Registration can be done by calling (313) 706-2750 or (313) 923-1655. Individuals can also register via email at testing@dabodetroitinc.com.
“As a community-based educational institution, and one with a history of preparing legions of health care professionals to respond to underserved populations, we are pleased to provide access, during this pandemic, to testing at our campuses to those proven to be most at risk,” said Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) chancellor, Dr. Curtis Ivery.

- Saturday, May 16,10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) – Northwest Detroit Campus, 8200 W. Outer Drive, Detroit.
- Sunday, May 17, 12 noon – 4 p.m. at The Sheffield Center Complex, 12048 Grand River, Detroit.
- Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) – Eastern Campus, 5901 Connor, Detroit.
- Sunday, May 24, 12 noon – 4 p.m. at The Sheffield Center Complex, 12048 Grand River, Detroit.
- Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at The Sheffield Center Complex, 12048 Grand River, Detroit.
- Sunday, May 31, 12 noon – 4 p.m. at The Sheffield Center Complex, 12048 Grand River, Detroit.
