Detroit Association of Black Organizations (DABO) Champion Scott Perry for Detroit Pistons’ President of Basketball Operations

Detroit, MI - April 30, 2024 - The Detroit Association of Black Organizations (DABO) proudly announces its support of Scott Perry for the open position of President of Basketball Operations for the Detroit Pistons. DABO Awarded $1M in Governor’s Community Center Grants

The Detroit Association of Black Organizations, (DABO), was awarded a $1 million grant by the State of Michigan. The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity awarded $64 million in Community Center Grant funds in late February. DABO is proud to have been selected amongst the 100 Michigan municipalities and organizations to expand programming and work on capital projects.

Detroit is Named a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation 2023 Culture of Health Prize Winner

Today the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) announced that Detroit is one of nine communities chosen to receive the 2023 RWJF Culture of Health Prize. The Prize celebrates communities across the country where people and organizations are collaborating to build positive solutions to barriers that have created unequal opportunities for health and well-being.  

Baby Smoove and The Detroit Association of Black Organizations host turkey giveaway for community

Dr. Cornel West to keynote DABO’s Community Empowerment Speaker Series Wednesday

UAW strikers at Ford Michigan Assembly Plant will receive support from prominent leaders Wednesday

A group of influential voices will converge at Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI to show solidarity with the United Auto Workers (UAW) members who are striking. Dr. Cornel West, a distinguished philosopher and political activist, Rev. Detroit launches first wave of sweeping new action plan to fight COVID-19 in the Black community

Today, at a free COVID-19 testing event hosted by Choose Healthy Life, Rev. Horace Sheffield III and a group of Detroit’s most respected Black clergy leaders began a new wave of COVID-19 testing, education, and prevention efforts that will benefit Detroit’s Black community.
